REVIEW IN THE HOUSTON CHRONICLE! Midsummer Night’s Dream Produced by Unhinged Productions is Magical, Mythical Masterpiece and Buzz’ Best MND Ever!

I hate to say this (but I also really LOVE to say it!) but Unhinged Productions’ A Midsummer Night’s Dream is the BEST Midsummer I have ever seen!

…

Secondly, director Chris Rivera’s casting of mostly teenagers in the ensemble and four of the leading roles, Lysandra, Demetrius, Helenus, and Hermia, is more realistic than casting anyone over, let’s say, twenty-two.Parents in Shakespeare’s plays married off their children when they were in their teens! So why do we have actors over twenty-two ever playing these roles? After experiencing teenagers in these roles in Unhinged Productions’ Midsummer, I now cannot accept any other possibility!
…
Rivera’s casting choices could not be more phenomenally perfect.
…
Seventeen-year-old Tucker Dittrich is an amazing Helenus, always wearing his heartfelt emotions on his sleeve as he chases after his first love, Demetrius, and becomes very confused when Lysandra comes after him in the woods after having been transfixed by Puck’s potion.Mr. Dittrich’s energy is boundless and his delivery is straight from the heart.
…
Quince’s acting troupe are hysterical and wildly entertaining.
…
If you want to fall in love with Shakespeare all over again, run to see Unhinged Productions’ stunning production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream which runs at Obsidian Art Space through Sunday, July 31.
